Motorcycle registrations in Spain

Motorcycle registrations in Spain +13.82 percent for first six months of 2016

According to the latest data released by the motorcycle industry trade association in Spain (ANESDOR), the motorcycle market there was up by +15.25 percent in June (17,484 units – the highest since June 2010) and is +13.82 percent for the year-to-date at 73,012 units (also the highest since 2010).

Moped registrations were -11.9 percent in June, but are +1.98 percent for the first six months of the year at 7,661 units.
Total PTW registrations were +13.75 percent in June (19,149 units) and are +12.35 percent (80,676 units) for the first six months of 2016.
For the year-to-date Honda is market share leader in Spain having sold 12,453 units for a 17.1 percent market share, followed by Yamaha (10,851 units, 14.9 percent share) and Kymco (8,651 units, 11.8 percent share).
The top selling motorcycle in Spain in the first six months was the Kawasaki Z800 with 1,617 units sold.
Reacting to the news, ANESDOR Secretary General Jose Maria Riano said that “the sector continues to grow apace, supported by the commercial efforts of brands and improving expectations about the economy of our country”.
However, Riano went on to say that the “73,012 motorcycles registered so far this year represent a low figure for the Spanish two-wheel ‘park’ and lie still far from the goal of long-term market sustainability”.
