Spanish motorcycle market

Spanish motorcycle market grows 19.8 percent in 2014

The latest data released by the motorcycle industry trade association in Spain (ANESDOR) shows that motorcycle sales were up 26.6 percent in December (6,291 units) and the market closed the year at +19.8 percent (110,396 units, up from 92,185 units in 2013) for the full twelve months of 2014.

The rebound in the Spanish market has been dramatic. The market was down -6 percent in 2013, but, as was the case in several other European markets, the final four months of 2013 had shown a return to growth, and last year new motorcycle registrations in Spain were up over 2013 for all twelve months. This has been the best year in the Spanish motorcycle market since the 124,166 units that were sold in 2011.
In total PTW terms, the Spanish market was up 26.3 percent in December (7,372 units) and up 16.5 percent for the year at 124,678 units compared to 107,022 units in 2013 - also the best year since 2011.
Honda lead the market with 17.6 percent (19,437 units), followed by Kymco with 14.5 percent (15,939 units), Yamaha with 12.9 percent (13,983 units), Piaggio with 10 percent (11,033 units) then Sym with 6.4 percent (7,048 units).
